We are a small family — Filipa, Filipe, and our beloved family of Cavaliers — living in Aveiro, Portugal 🇵🇹

I’m Filipa, a veterinarian who graduated from ICBAS, University of Porto, in 2019, and I’ve been passionate about dog breeding for as long as I can remember (my love for breeding actually started with my parents!). Naturally, my thesis focused on canine reproduction, which has been one of my main areas of interest throughout my veterinary career. I also believe strongly in preventive veterinary medicine, where a holistic and conventional approach can complement each other.

After completing my degree, I went on to pursue several postgraduate courses, mainly in canine nutrition, reproduction, and animal behaviour. These are the areas of veterinary medicine that fascinate me the most! Learning is a continuous process for me, and I’m always discovering something new.

Filipe has a degree in Human Physiotherapy and has also been expanding his knowledge and experience in animal physiotherapy. He is also the one responsible for all the baths at home — and there are quite a few of them! 🤣

​

Our love for this wonderful breed began in 2012, and in 2014 we created our kennel name, Edel Plass. The name means “noble home” in Norwegian, as a tribute to our connection with Norway and to the fact that our home becomes a little more noble with these little ones in it.

Our dogs are family members. We don’t have kennels—they live with us, inside our home, as part of our daily lives.

Our main goal is to breed healthy dogs with the balanced temperament and signature beauty of the breed. We take a responsible and carefully planned approach to breeding.

That’s why all our breeding dogs are:

🫀 Health-tested for the breed’s main conditions. This is our absolute priority. We spend countless hours studying pedigrees and selecting the healthiest bloodlines.

⚖️ True to the Cavalier temperament. We breed gentle, loving, calm, intelligent dogs with wonderful therapy potential.

​

🐶 Conforming to the breed standard. We select bloodlines from all over the world, always maintaining the noble and well-balanced look we love: large, round, expressive eyes, well-proportioned coat (without exaggeration), correct structure, and elegant, agile movement. We’re not obsessed with show results, but we do enjoy attending occasionally!

​

We breed Cavaliers for companionship, therapy (for children, the elderly, and individuals with special needs), and for show/breeding. But above all, we breed with love. ❤️
